The first step is for you and your child to visit our campus and meet with our staff. You can get basic information by looking through our website and talking to us on the phone, but nothing replaces a visit to be able to understand who we are and what we do here at Tucker Maxon. We invite you to attend an Open House or contact our school office to schedule an individual campus tour. If you would like to know about the enrollment process for your family, click on the appropriate entry link below:
After reviewing the information provided, the next step is to submit an Intent To Enroll form along with a non-refundable $100.00 registration fee. We may request additional information which may include report cards, an audiology report, speech/language evaluations, a statement of eligibility from your school district or any other pertinent school or medical records.
In most cases, we will arrange a classroom visit for your child. Our admissions team will then decide whether Tucker Maxon is an appropriate placement for your child and we will notify you of our decision.
Your letter of acceptance will outline the amount and due date for payment of the first month’s tuition. Payment of the initial tuition will confirm your enrollment. For families applying mid-year, the pro-rated first month’s tuition secures your child’s place.
In August, a registration packet will be mailed to you with information on classroom assignments and details on the upcoming year. Complete registration paperwork and return it to the school office. We need to have a completed Health, Emergency and Authorization form and immunization records before your child may attend class.
We are able to offer financial assistance to the families of most of our deaf and hard of hearing children based on demonstrated need. Completion of a Financial Assistance Application is required prior to consideration. The Financial Assistance Committee will meet to determine your award.

Patty SmithOffice Manager & Enrollment Coordinator Tucker Maxon School
Patty joined the Tucker-Maxon family when her youngest daughter (then 3 years old) was in preschool at Childswork (who partnered with us for many years). The long standing joke in her family is that Katie graduated but Patty is still there, sorting crayons.
Over the past 25 years, she has had lots of learning opportunities: as an EA in both preschool and elementary divisions, tutoring hearing impaired students, teaching summer programs and preschool classes, managing the library and directing the Extended Care program. Most recently she has transitioned into the office, working primarily with students and their families (now those students include two of her own grandchildren).
When not at school, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Tom and their family. Their 3 grown children all have families of their own and live close by, so the moments of quiet are rare. She is an avid Blazer fan, goes whitewater rafting in the summer and then to Mexico each winter for a warm and wonderful family reunion.
She finds that there is truly no end to learning and she enjoys the new challenges that life brings.
