Katherine was born and raised in Baldwin, Kansas. She began working with children at the same home daycare she attended as an infant, and from there discovered her love of teaching young children. Katherine is just about to finish her undergraduate degree in African Francophone Literature at Reed College, and will begin a master’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Washington this fall. Katherine hopes to become certified as a Special Education Preschool Teacher and to continue working with children with disabilities.
Outside of school and work Katherine enjoys knitting, reading, and exploring ecosystems in Oregon, which are vastly different from that of her hometown in Kansas. Katherine is an avid napper, and spends much of her free time with her 16 year old cat named Fiona.
