Orhan came to Tucker Maxon in April 2018, recently arriving in Portland after many years on the east coast. He has worked in nonprofit development for over 10 years and is passionate about missions that create extraordinary personal transformation. His previous work includes managing leadership giving at Rails-to-Trails Conservancy in Washington, D.C., and working in major giving operations at Tufts University in Medford, MA, where he earned a graduate certificate in Management of Community Organizations. He also holds a certificate in Professional Fundraising from Boston University.
Orhan grew up in NJ with parents who were both educators. He earned a BA in philosophy from Washington and Lee University, where he also played lacrosse and served as music director of WLUR radio. Orhan remains an avid music collector and athletic adventurer, riding his bike and practicing yoga daily. In the community, he has been an active volunteer with local arts, environmental and self-development programs. Orhan and his wife, Khady, were drawn to Portland by the quality of the local food shed, the trail and transit network, and the culture of localism celebrated here. At their home in Oak Grove you will find upcycled furnishings, books, saxophones, crafting projects, and delicious multi-cultural cuisine made from scratch.
