Tom MartinFinance Director

Tom Martin is happy to join Tucker Maxon School as the new Finance Director.  Raised in Massachusetts, Tom holds a BA from Bates College in Lewiston ME, and a Masters of Public Administration from the University of Washington’s Daniel J. Evans School of Public Affairs.

Tom has been working in nonprofit organizations for his entire career, both in the US and overseas.  He comes to us from Mercy Corps where he held a variety of roles ranging from Regional Finance Manager for the Middle East program, (and later for the Eastern and Southern African, and Latin America and Caribbean, and HQ programs).   With Mercy Corps he also held Finance Manager/Director roles in Turkey as well as interim roles in Syria, Iraq, and Puerto Rico.  Prior to that, Tom was Operations Director at Village Reach and Grants and Budget Manager for Health Alliance International, both in Seattle WA, and Development Director of Bread for the City in Washington, DC.  He started his nonprofit career as an Instructor at Pocono Environmental Education Center outside of Dingmans Ferry, PA, where he loved to lead night hikes and follow naturalists around the woods in his spare time.  These days, Tom still loves to hike, bike, and kayak with his wife and son, play silly board games, and strum the guitar in a Portland-based Turkish rock band.
