Academics & More

In academics, Tucker Maxon School is distinguished by a focus on communication skills important in school, business and personal relationships.

Tucker Maxon’s 1st–5th grade students demonstrated continued growth in both math and reading skills during the 2025–26 school year. Students are tested in fall, winter, and spring each year.  The percentages reported below are standardized against national data for typically hearing students in the same grade levels.

Students have opportunities throughout the academic year to practice their speaking skills in classrooms, plays and other performances. School academics focus on instruction in spoken language and listening skills for all children attending the school.

Curricula is carefully selected in reading and mathematics to support the overall philosophy of excellence in education.  In this way, Tucker Maxon students are on a path to meet or exceed Oregon’s state academic standards from an early age. In addition to this, physical education classes three times a week provide a balance of physical and mental activity. Parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year to share educational outcomes in all academic areas.

Tucker Maxon is an independent nonprofit elementary school for children from preschool (PreK) to fifth grade approved by the Oregon Department of Education. Importantly, children learn to develop conversation, confidence, and creativity, while sharing in the warmth of community.
