Educational Assistant
Tucker Maxon School at 2860 SE Holgate Blvd, Portland is looking for energetic, creative, and positive individuals for floating and classroom assigned Educational Assistant positions in our Preschool and Extended Care programs for the 2024-25 school year.

Duties include working alongside classroom teachers, and supervising children during classroom activities, and recreational time. This position may also supervise children during the After School childcare program.
Position hours are school days Monday to Friday, with varying shifts between the hours of 7:30 – 5:30pm. School runs 8:30-2:30 with before care 7:30-8:30 AM and after care 2:30-5:30 PM, so this could also be part time, after school.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Educational Assistant to join our team. As an Educational Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and students to provide support in various educational settings. Your role will involve assisting with lesson planning, implementing curriculum, and supporting students’ learning and development.
Duties:
- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans
- Assist in creating a positive and engaging learning environment
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who require additional assistance
- Support students with special needs, including those on the autism spectrum
- Help students develop essential skills in math, literacy, and other subjects
- Assist in classroom management and behavior management strategies
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers
- Prepare materials and resources for lessons and activities
- Supervise students during recess, lunchtime, or field trips as needed
Requirements:
- Prior experience with children required, preferably in an educational setting
- Familiarity with preschool or early childhood education is a plus
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills to assist with lesson planning and resource preparation
- Patience, humor, and love of children
- Bachelors of Arts or Science preferred
- Must enjoy working with young children
- Available to work during all required hours
- Enrolled in the Oregon Criminal Registry program now or ASAP
- First Aid/CPR certified now or ASAP
- Oregon Food Handlers Card now or ASAP
Compensation:
- $21.68 per hour for the 2024-25 school year
