Born and raised in Reno, Nevada, Lainy Morse moved to Portland in 2002 and has been
dedicated to the field of early childhood education for over 15 years. She became a mother in
2006, an experience that sparked a deep personal journey into understanding how young
humans grow and learn. Through her roles as a nanny and as a teacher in various preschool
settings, she developed a passion for supporting both children and families. In 2019, she earned
her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Early Childhood from
Concordia University.

From 2020 to 2025, Lainy owned and operated Songbird Playschool, a preschool that reflected
her belief in the power of play-based learning. She is passionate about supporting young
children’s social-emotional development through conflict resolution and self-regulation
strategies, and sees the teacher’s role as a compassionate guide in this process.

Outside the classroom, Lainy enjoys spending time with her husband, young adult daughter,
and their lively household of two dogs, two cats, and bunny. Her favorite pastimes include long
walks, yoga, gardening, and playing guitar.
